HOW SHOULD THE BED CHOICE BE IN CHRONIC LOW BACK PAIN?

In chronic (long-term) low back pain, the choice of bed was wondered and discussed at every period and findings with uncertain results were obtained.

Since a good bed will provide a good sleep, it will make us feel good when we wake up in the morning and less pain all day long.

If the mattress maintains the posture in the ideal position without any strain and pressure in the joints, the pain can be prevented or felt less.

The bed type is thought to be important in feeding the cushions (discs) between the spine.

There is a belief among the public that their pain will pass as a result of lying in a hard bed. However, it is known that this is not true.

Fewer international studies have found that soft mattresses give better results than hard mattresses. However, it has been observed that very soft mattresses act like hard mattresses and trigger pain.

As a result, it was observed that hard mattresses disrupt sleep and increase lower back pain, and similar effects are experienced in very soft mattresses.

In chronic low back pain, the choice of mattress should be soft, but there is no exact information about how soft it should be.
