What should families pay attention to?

- Children who are generally perfectionist, anxious, overprotective, and show low interest and love are more likely to have stuttering. For this reason, such situations should be avoided.

- In the period when the speaking skill develops, you are saying the words "You're saying it wrong!" Frequent corrections in the form of anxiety in the child can cause stuttering. Instead of correcting your children, you can be a model for him by using the right words.

- Do not be alarmed and hurried when you first observe the stuttering. Early stuttering can often be brought under control. First, pretend that there is no such behavior. The picture will get worse when you warn him and draw attention to stuttering. So wait patiently and without worrying to complete the sentence. Take particular care to avoid interfering and corrective discourses such as “stop and try again”. Make abundant observations, trying to understand the underlying cause. If it happens during a conversation with strangers, encourage them to develop and try their skills by training them on what they can do in such environments.

- Don't talk about it with others next to him.

- If you have tried all of these and you are observing stuttering almost every day, it is recommended that you get help by talking to the "Speech and Language Therapist" so that the complaints do not become chronic and cause psychological problems.
