HYPOSPADIAS AND TREATMENT METHODS

What is Hypospadias?

Also known as the "Prophet Sunnah" among the people, "Hipospadias" is an inherited disorder of the male genital penis. It is called hypospadias that the urinary canal in the penis is congenitally short and the tip of the canal is opened somewhere on the lower face of the penis, not where it should be.

The foreskin is missing at the bottom, so children with hypospadias are also known as "Congenitally Circumcised" or "Prophet Circumcised." The appearance of the sexual organ is not normal, some types of heavy are similar to the female genitalia, and gender uncertainty may occur at birth. Although the cause of this condition is not known exactly, it is seen in approximately 1 in every 200 to 300 male babies and its diagnosis is made at the examination.

Hypospadias Treatment

Treatment is possible with different surgical methods depending on the type of hypospadias. The first 6 months are expected for treatment after birth. It is important for the psychological development of the child to be treated before the age of 2 after the first 6 months of development. The child will not remember the treatment during this period.

The opinion of the pediatric surgeon should be taken about the treatment plan of the child with hypospadias disease and unconsciously circumcised. In hypospadias surgery, the short urinary canal is extended, voiding is provided from the tip of the penis, and the curvature problem in the body is corrected, and circumcision is performed in the same surgery.

My children with mild and moderate ailments have a high success rate in single surgery in hypospadias surgeries. The biggest concern of the family is whether the patient can have a penis in normal function. A penis with normal appearance and function is tried to be created by surgery.

The operation takes place under general anesthesia and is completed at different times depending on the type of surgery.
