Psychiatry is a branch of medicine that deals with human mental problems. As psychiatrists, we diagnose and treat disorders, thoughts, and behavior. Sometimes we try to prevent these disorders from occurring. Symptoms of mental illness can include: depression, feeling bad, unwillingness, fatigue, lack of life, anxiety, panic-fear, internal distress, increased or decreased sleep and appetite, physical complaints (pain, fainting, numbness, nausea, vomiting ), obsessive thoughts, inspiration, dreaming or hearing voices, problems with dementia, alcohol and drug addiction and abuse, suicidal thoughts, excessive cheerfulness or excessive irritability - not being able to stay in open or closed areas, some special fears (fear of cats, dogs, not getting on the plane, not getting into the elevator), compliance problems after a stressful event, marital or sexual problems, eating disorders (overeating, obesity or excessive weakness, not eating or vomiting), mental retardation, tics, speech and learning disorders, etc.
After the diagnosis, we decide which treatment will be appropriate: drug therapy, individual psychotherapy (speech therapy) or couple (marriage) therapy. Sometimes, without any illness, difficulties in dealing with the problems of life, problems in relationships (work, family, child, friend, school), the person's dissatisfaction and the features he wants to change may be the reason for applying to psychiatry. In this case, with the appropriate method, we investigate how the problem has arisen and help improve coping or solving skills.
