Gastroenterology (Endoscopy Lab.)

In Medilife Health Group Gastroenterology Department; especially the esophagus, stomach, and part of the small intestines; Diagnosis and treatment of diseases of pancreatic organs, including large intestine, liver and gall bladder diseases, are also performed. Gastroenterology department is our unit used in the treatment of diseases such as ulcers, gastritis, reflux, jaundice, cirrhosis, spastic colon (irritable bowel syndrome: IBS), gallstones and inflammation, gastrointestinal cancers, hemorrhoids (yeast and hemorrhoids).

You can refer to Gastroenterology in case of the following complaints;

• constipation
• Diarrhea
• vomiting
• nausea
• Abdominal pain
Irritable bowel syndrome
• Retrosternal burning sensation (burning sensation in the middle of the chest)
Acid reflux (Brackish water coming into the mouth)
• Gallbladder pain
• Cough-like coughs, especially in a nighttime lying position
In the Endoscopy Unit;

All of the diseases of this section are diagnosed by gastroscopy and colonoscopy. Diagnosis and treatments can be performed by the Gastroenterology Specialist and General Surgeons multidisciplinary. In cases where surgery is necessary, our General Surgery physicians are engaged. In patients with reflux complaints but no reflux findings were found in endoscopy; Reflux disease is detected by PH Monitoring.

What is gastroscopy?

It is a diagnostic method used to directly see the esophagus, stomach and duodenum. With a gastroscopy procedure, tissue sample (biopsy) can be taken with a thin wire sent through the gastroscope, and the polyp can be removed (polypectomy).

What is a colonoscopy?

Colonoscopy is the process of starting from the anus and examining the rectum, sigmoid, epicentral colon, transverse colon, ascending colon and cecum. With the colonoscope, all lesions in the colon are directly visible. With a thin wire sent through the colonoscope, a tissue sample (biopsy) can be taken and the polyp can be removed. (Polypectomy)
